Special Education support and services are provided to students through both the inclusion and pull-out models. In the general education classroom, differentiation is practiced to meet the learning needs of all students. In a pull-out setting we work with small groups in order to provide academic interventions and focused social/behavioral supports.
As Teachers of Special Education, we consult and collaborate with the classroom teachers to ensure the success of those students who may have an identified special need. We are also part of the general education intervention team that works with teachers to help solve academic and behavior issues when students begin struggling. We believe all students can learn and reach their potential through effective individualized and collaborative instruction. The resource team consists of two full time resource teachers and four extremely talented instructional assistants. The work of the resource team benefits all students at Smoky Row Elementary.
