Monday, January 22, Red Day

Experimentation Club continues tomorrow after school in room 504 until the late bus. Help plan for upcoming experiments and join the fun. New members are welcome to join.

CSG meets Wednesday after school – sixth grade will meet in room 518, and seventh and eighth grade will meet in room 226. This meeting will be to get ready for our upcoming Valentine’s Day sour lips sucker sales.

Come to the call-out meeting of a new club – the Stranger Things Club – Monday, January 22 in computer lab 420 until the late bus to play a Stranger Things Waffle Game and talk about what we want to do.

Friday, January 19, Blue Day

In club news, Science Bowl meets today for practice until 4:45.

Seventh grade students – if you want to go on the DC trip in October, please remember to sign up for the lottery by Sunday. If you have not signed up for the lottery, you may not be eligible to go on the trip. For more information, please visit creeksidedc.weebly.com or see Mrs. Gemelas-Wood for details.

Are you a fan of the Netflix series Stranger Things? If so, come to the call-out meeting of a new club – the Stranger Things Club – Monday, January 22. We’ll meet in computer lab 420 until the late bus to play a Stranger Things Waffle Game and talk about what we want to do.

In sports, the seventh grade Lady Wildcats lost two games Wednesday night to a very good Riverside team. In the B game, the Lady Wildcats lost 20 to 18 in a well-fought game. All players played hard. Next week will be our first home game against Noblesville East on Wednesday.

The Wildcat grapplers took down Westlane Middle School 66 to 51, improving to three and one on the season. The Wildcat's will be back on the mat Tuesday versus Zionsville West and at home on Thursday against Noblesville East.

Last night the eighth grade Lady Wildcats "A" team improved their season record to 4 wins, 0 losses with a 45 to 16 win at Noblesville West. The "B" team lost 20 to 25 in a hard fought game.

Thursday, January 18, Red Day 

In club news, the Harry Potter club meets today after school in room 821. Anyone is welcome! VEX Robotics will be meeting today in room 220 after school until the late bus, and Krafty Kats meets today after school until the late bus. Enjoy a snack and fun in room 423. Late bus passes will be provided for all clubs.

Cru meets tomorrow morning at 7:00 in the Creekside Commons. If attending Cru was your New Year’s resolution, then tomorrow is your chance.

Science Bowl meets tomorrow for practice until 4:45.

Attention MATHCOUNTS students: results will be posted by several of the math rooms later today regarding our school competition and testing. For the group listed, they are to come Tuesday for their next practice.

There were roughly 35 other students who competed. Those students are to come next Thursday for our next club practice meeting. Today, all of the MATHCOUNTS group can stop by room 310 after school to find out how they did and get their next MATHCOUNTS papers. Great job by all for your focus and school competition this year.

In sports, the Wildcat grapplers lost 44 to 66 in a hard-fought contest to Hamilton Heights Middle School Tuesday night. The Wildcats won eight and lost nine of the varsity head to head match-ups on the evening. Picking up varsity wins were Berebitsky, Van Bibber, Eitan Halevi, Hooper, Funke, Thiru, Webster and DeCapua.

The Wildcats won fourteen of nineteen Junior Varsity matches. Recording victories in the Junior Varsity matches were Arroyo, Ciano, Miller, Rubin, Oman, Thompson, Wilson, Black, Dulay, Riley, Jiang, Brogan and Springston, who had two wins on the night. The Wildcats are back in action tonight at Creekside against Westlane Middle School.

The eighth grade Lady Wildcats traveled to Riverside last night and came home with two big wins. After trailing by four points at half, the "A" team cranked up their defense to outscore their opponents by eight points, coming away with a 34 to 29 victory. Kate Clarke led a balanced scoring attack, followed by Evan Spidel, Emily Roper and Leah Kennedy. Kierstyn Hubbard played an outstanding all-around game.

The "B" team also came home with a victory, winning 21 to 10. Ella Joliet led the team with nine points, followed by Anna Frey with eight points. Melia Montgomery and Laney Napoli also scored for the Wildcats. Contributing to the victory with great team efforts were Anna Salentine, Nyla Young, Lisa Venckus, Eva Cox and Illana Felix. Great Job, ladies. 

Wednesday, January 17, Blue Day 

Come join us in room 608 right after school today for Chess Club and a few other activities. Here is an opportunity to play different games with friends. Late bus passes will be provided. Parents need to pick up students in the front of school at 4:00. See Mrs. Kathy Davis for more information.

Best Buddies is NOT meeting today after school. We will be meeting next week on Tuesday.

Harry Potter Club meets again tomorrow in room 821 – the choir room – after school until the late bus. We will meet our prefects, brainstorm for the year, talk about house sorting, and play a Harry Potter Guess Who game to kick off the year. All grades and houses are welcome.

VEX Robotics will meet tomorrow in room 220 after school until the late bus.

Cru meets this Friday morning at 7:00 in the Creekside Commons. All are welcome. If attending Cru was your New Year’s resolution, then this Friday is your chance.

Tuesday, January 16, Red Day

Art Club meets this afternoon in Mrs. Tucker’s room until the late bus.

Seventh grade students: the DC trip information meeting is this evening at 7:00 PM in the Creekside Auditorium.

Last Friday, the Eighth Grade Wind Symphony was scheduled to perform at the Indiana Music Education State Conference in Fort Wayne. Although the actual performance had to be cancelled because of the weather conditions, we are no less proud of the students for their hard work and dedication toward preparing for this event over the last five months. So, to the 59 musicians in the Wind Symphony, congratulations! We know your performance would have been amazing, and we are so proud of you!

Thursday, January 11, Red Day

In club news, the next meeting of the Art Club will be this coming Tuesday after school in Mrs. Tucker’s room.

DECA Business, Junior meets again this afternoon in computer lab 301 until the late bus.

Attention Experimentation Club members – please see Mrs. Rhoads if you are interested in continuing this club. If there is enough interest for second semester, it will continue and dates of the next meeting will be posted.

Congratulations and good luck to our five Creekside band members who are performing in the Indiana Junior All State Band this weekend in Fort Wayne. The five students that auditioned and were accepted into this group are Ben Colton on trumpet, Jack Krowiak on trombone, Morgan Williamson on bassoon, Aneesh Dasgupta on tuba, and Kelly Okamoto on the flute. Congratulations, and good luck this weekend!

Seventh grade students, if you are interested in attending the Washington, D.C. trip in October, please let your parents know that there will be an information meeting on Tuesday at 7:00 PM in the Creekside Auditorium. This meeting will give parents a brief overview of the trip and requirements for trip eligibility. It is only open to current seventh grade students and their parents. For more information, please see Mrs. Gemelas-Wood.

In sports last night, the Lady Wildcats traveled to Hamilton Heights to take on the undefeated Huskies. The "A" team came home with a 13-point win led by Kate C. with 20 points, followed by Chloe B. with seven and Emily R. and Leah K. Evan S. battled foul trouble all night, but continued to play great defense. Kierstyn Hubbard did an outstanding job rebounding and playing great defense.

 The "B" team opened their season against a very good Huskie team, but lost a hard fought battle. The team was led in scoring by Sophia T. and Anna F., followed by Melia M. and Ella J. Anna S. rebounded well all game and great performances were put in by Nyla Y., Lisa V., Laney N., Eva C., and Ilana F.

The 7th Grade Lady Wildcats came up strong last night with wins in both of their games. The A team won big with a 46-12 win over Hamilton Heights. Maya Berglund lead the scoring with 12 points. Tori Tomalia and Janiah King each had 10 points. All the girls played well!

The B team game saw the Wildcats win big also with the score of 23-6. Carolyn Hubbard scored 12 points. Rachel Jacobson lead the team with 8 rebounds. Keep working hard! Good job last night.

MATHCOUNTS club members – results from our school competition will not be posted yet. Please wait to hear on the announcements when to look at these results. Again, as of today, the MATHCOUNTS results will not yet be posted. Stay tuned to announcements for this, and thanks for your patience in waiting for them and your next papers.

In sports last night, Creekside played Zionsville West. The A team fell short 31 to 48. Jared B. had 11 points and Alex H added seven. The B team won 28 to 27. Tyler G. and Kyle F. had nine points each. Danny S. helped control the pace and Asher U. hit the game winner. The teams are in action again tonight at 5:00.

Last night, the eighth grade Lady Wildcats opened their season by traveling to Noblesville East and came home with a 38 to 26 win. The team was led in scoring by Kate Clarke with 15 points, followed by Emily Roper with 10, and then Evan Spidel, Leah Kennedy and Chloe Boyd.

Kierstyn Hubbard came off the bench to score and be one of the team’s leading rebounders. Laney Napoli played outstanding defense with numerous steals and deflections. All 16 members of the team played and made positive contributions to the victory. Great first game for the team.
