Welcome to sixth grade humanities! This is my fourteenth year teaching overall and my fifth year teaching at Creekside Middle School. I grew up on a farm in Southern Indiana, went on to Purdue University, and started my teaching career at Orchard Park Elementary. The big city called my name and I decided to move to Chicago. While in Chicago, I taught third grade while acting as the technology coordinator for my building. Eventually, I moved up to teaching sixth grade humanities. I loved teaching humanities so much I ended up completing my Master's degree in the windy city with a humanities concentration! Those seven years of city living were ones to learn from and cherish- we miss Chicago dearly ( Go Cubs! Go Bears!). After marrying my husband, we decided to start a family and moved closer to home. We had our son Carson four years ago. We welcomed our second son, Collier, in March of 2012. Last year I enjoyed spending the first semester as a stay-at-home mom and worked as an instructional coach for Carmel Clay Schools during the second half of the year. What a great learning experience both of these opportunities were!
Reading a good book, riding my bike, running, hanging out with my family, learning to garden, traveling, and cooking are among my very favorite things to do. Our dog, London, is a Labrador Retriever so we do a lot of swimming as well. I have to admit, I'm a bit of a computer geek too so hang in there with me this year - I may teach you some cool and wacky stuff in the computer lab.
We hope you enjoy your time with our Creekside family!
